KidSmart provides school supplies for hundreds of local teachers

As summer break ends, teachers are preparing for the first day of class.

The nonprofit KidSmart took over Ballpark Village on Friday to give hundreds of teachers supplies for their classrooms before the first bell rang.

“Many times, teachers are reaching into their own pockets to help bring school supplies to their classrooms,” said Matt Embleton with KidSmart. “Today, as these teachers come through here, we’re giving them the school supplies that they need, so they don’t have to do that.”

KidSmart has also helped out nearly 30,000 students get the supplies they need ahead of the first day.
